In the teen world today, whom do you look up to? Is it a musician, an actress or a reality star? Jon Hamm, actor and star of “Mad Men,” recently gained attention for his brutal comments on ”socialite” Paris Hilton and legendary fame-chaser Kim Kardashian, berating them for promoting their lifestyle to young girls. The case for a strong role model for young girls is nothing new, but to Hamm’s point, it is disheartening to see such a flood of women in the media who stand for little more than partying, money and fame. The Gay Pride Parade

New York City is crazy in the summer, even crazier on weekends and craziest when there is a parade. This past Sunday, men, women, transvestites and transgenders gathered from all parts of the country to celebrate one thing: equality. The Gay Pride Parade is a tradition in New York dating back to 1970, but this year, having been coincidentally scheduled for the weekend following the big senate vote on marriage equality in New York State—and the subsequent passing of that law—this celebration was even larger and more colorful then years past.
