Product Review: Paris Hilton Passport: South Beach

parishilton south beach review pic

Of all the senses, I would say that smell is the sense that is best at vividly bringing back memories. To a large extent, smell is more personal than other senses because it brings back memories of people—not just places or things. There is the cologne of the guy you’re interested in, or your mom’s perfume; things that naturally make you think about or remember them. Those lingering warm smells that everyone loves help you remember happy times in your life, like…. SUMMER! J

Paris Hilton’s South Beach perfume is a light fragrance, filled with vitality and energy. It [ ...continue reading ]

Product Review: Rembrandt 2-Hour Whitening

Rembrandt pic for Morgan's review

Picking this product was easy. Over the years I have tried numerous whitening treatments, including several different versions of the very pricey Crest White Strips. They have not only failed to stay in my mouth during the treatment, but also failed to work for me. I was excited to finally try a whitening treatment that did not involve plastic strips glued to my teeth. When the package arrived in the mail it was like opening a Christmas present. I ripped open the box and held up my new gift. I spent a thorough 20 minutes investigating the product by [ ...continue reading ]

Big Apple, Big Changes

for Kimberly's first blog

Before I was 15, I had never been on a train. My parents hate New York City—it’s too busy, too noisy and way too crowded for their liking. On the very rare occasion that we did venture into the city, we drove. So, when I started my internship at Euro RSCG Worldwide PR at the beginning of June, the bright pink monthly metro card in my hand was a very unfamiliar sight.

The train wasn’t the only new thing my internship introduced into my life. There were new people to meet, new programs to learn and new ideas to [ ...continue reading ]

The Quest for the Stanley Cup: A Response to a GQ Article

boston-bruins-photos

On June 9, 2011, GQ Magazine’s Jonah Keri released an article entitled “The Boston Bruins Vs. the World,” which shocked and enraged the enormous and extremely passionate population of Bruins fans everywhere. In a clear attempt to provoke this favorite team and their fans during the final series of the playoffs, Keri illustrates his jealousy when implying that Boston fans have become “spoiled” with too many championships from 2000 to the present day.

Keri, who was born in Montreal, attempts to convey the message that even U.S. hockey fans do not support the Bruins bringing home the cup. [ ...continue reading ]

Teenage Suicide

for suicide blog ID

It only recently occurred to me how common suicide is. Tragically, suicide is the third most common cause of teen deaths in America. Many teenagers don’t know that suicides are even happening in the social scenes around them. But in a survey of high school students, the National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center found that almost one in five teens had thought about suicide, about one in six teens had made plans for suicide, and more than one in 12 teens had attempted suicide in the last year. That is enough to scare me, and should put other teens [ ...continue reading ]

Product Review: Paris Hilton Passport Paris Perfume

Perfume Paris

Looking for a new summer scent? Well, have I got the perfume for you! I recently tried Paris Hilton’s new perfume Passport Paris. If you have ever smelled Britney Spears’s perfumes, they smell a little sugary—that is what Paris’s perfume smells like BUT with a hint of fruitiness. When I say “hint,” I really mean “hint.” So if you like sugary smelling perfumes, I definitely recommend this. The packaging is really adorable as well. I surveyed 10 boys at my school and asked whether they liked Paris’s new scent rather than Clinique’s In Bloom perfume, which is a more [ ...continue reading ]

Minnesota Summer

Picnik collage for minnesota blog

Living in Minnesota is so, so fun for me. My street alone has probably 30 kids of all different ages, so you can always find a friend. The winters here are very, very, very cold, but school is never cancelled. Everyone hopes and dreams that winter will be over by early April (it never is). When spring rolls around everyone is wearing shorts in 30 degree weather—because it’s warm for us.

My neighborhood is close to everything: the park, Dairy Queen, school, country club…anything you can think of, we’re close to. Our summers are amazing. When school is out, [ ...continue reading ]

Mary J. Blige’s Benefit Concert

for MJB blog

Every year, Mary J. Blige hosts a benefit concert to raise money for young women and girls who cannot afford to stay in school, graduate or begin their careers. She has created the FFAWN foundation, which raises thousands of dollars every year for these girls. Blige has ultimately made a huge difference in the lives of these girls by giving them opportunities to experience life and become educated and prepared for success.

Recently, I was able to volunteer and help the Euro RSCG Worldwide PR staff by tweeting and advocating the event to the public. Many celebrities showed [ ...continue reading ]

Product Review: What You Don’t Know Can Keep You Out of College, by Don Dunbar

Book review_Don Dunbar

I enjoyed reading this book because it was a light and easy read for what might have been a boring subject. No one wants to read a stack of college books that are supposedly helpful, so it’s good to find one that actually is helpful. Some of the points the author made were obvious, exaggerated or ridiculous, but he also made some good points that I had never thought of before. I liked reading the stories that he included in the different lessons—they helped keep me interested in the book. I have to admit, many stories made me [ ...continue reading ]

Summer Fever

for summer blog ID

With the school year coming to an end, many people are starting to see summer peeking through when we have the occasional day of sun. Ignoring the inconsistent periods of long-lasting rainfalls and thick foggy air, we inhabitants of the East Coast are getting antsy for those enduring days of sun we all desire. There is nothing better than walking out of your house in the morning and smelling the fresh and distinct scent of spring. (You know what I’m talking about.) It is all those signs of summer that we simply want more of: the flowers blooming, reasons [ ...continue reading ]
