At ERWW PR, we’re passionate about helping brands make a difference in their CSR offers, and we’re jazzed about the progress we’ve made with our in-house initiatives. Our very own David Jones, global CEO of Havas Worldwide and Euro RSCG Worldwide, is a formidable champion of corporate responsibility. He is the co-founder of the global youth leadership summit One Young World, for which we secured more than 800 delegates from nearly 120 countries at the inaugural event in London in February 2010. The group’s engagement in passionate discourse toward finding solutions to worldwide problems such as economic injustice, climate change and excessive corporate power was substantial and meaningful.
And we powered it all through social media, with a huge online community for the real-time generation looking for a voice. They found that voice; in the first two days of the event, we counted 4,014 online conversations about OYW: 87 percent of them on Twitter, 5.5 percent images, 3.7 percent blogs, 1.8 percent videos and 2 percent other formats. The social Web really lit up during the conference—when such luminaries as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Sir Bob Geldof and Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus addressed the delegates and guided them through the complex workings of an international forum. In fact, social media mentions of One Young World through the event were up 908 percent from the two days preceding it. On Twitter, OYW reached No. 4 in trending topics in the U.K. and No. 2 in trending topics in London.
Among Euro RSCG Worldwide PR’s other CSR efforts (in addition to everything we do for a variety of clients), we partner with Howard University in a minority internship program. We will continue to involve The Sisterhood in socially minded projects for clients and otherwise. Together, we can help make the world a better place, one future leader at a time.
